What format does the string need to be in?
Exactly 81 characters, read left to right and top to bottom, one per cell. Use the digits 1–9 for a clue, and either 0 or .for an empty cell — both notations are accepted, and you can mix them.
Where do I get a Sudoku string?
Any puzzle you're playing on Peak Sudoku has one in its Share menu. Many other Sudoku sites, apps and forums — including r/sudoku — use the same 81-character format, so a string copied from one usually pastes straight in here.
Why does it say the puzzle has no unique solution?
The clues in the string don't pin down exactly one answer — usually the sign of a copying mistake, a dropped digit, or a clue in the wrong cell. Double-check the string against its source and try again.
Can I bring in a puzzle I've already started solving?
A string only carries the printed clues, not anything filled in since. If you have a half-finished puzzle on paper or in a photo, scanning an image instead reads your written-in digits and pencil marks too, and carries them over.
